For Indonesia today, the proper development of history education is both urgent and critical. This is not because the past matters for its own sake, but because teaching history is essential for present and future interests. There are at least two reasons for this: first, it is related to major changes taking place in national life as a result of the Industrial Revolution 5.0, which emphasizes the integration of advanced technologies such as AI, IoT, and robotics with human skills and innovation to create efficient, flexible, and sustainable systems for human well-being. The second reason is connected to economic, political, and sociocultural crises that threaten national existence, sovereignty, and integration. 

PSDS FIB UNDIP was established based on UNDIP Rector’s Decree No. 1125/UN7.P/HK/2016 dated 20 September 2016, as UNDIP, holding the status of a State University with Legal Entities (PTN-BH), does indeed have the authority to open and close study programs. In the following year, in the odd semester of 2017/2018, PSDS FIB UNDIP began accepting new students. The PSDS FIB UNDIP lectures officially started in August 2017, with its organizational management under the Department of History, which contributes in providing human resources, namely the teaching staff. FIB and UNDIP provide funding and facilities for the learning process as well as infrastructure. Institutionally, the Department of History at FIB UNDIP oversees three study programs: the undergraduate (S1) History program, the master’s (S2) History program, and the doctoral (S3) History program. The PSDS FIB UNDIP campus is located at Jl. dr. Antonius Suroyo, FIB UNDIP Campus, Tembalang, Semarang, Central Java Province, Indonesia. In 2020, PSDS FIB UNDIP received accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) with a “Good” (B) rating, based on BAN PT Decree No. 5078/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/D/IX/2020. In this context, BAN-PT accreditation serves as a form of external quality assurance, while UNDIP’s internal quality assurance is known as the Academic Internal Quality Audit (AIMA), which in 2022 was changed to the Internal Quality Audit (AMI). Through both external and internal quality assurance bodies, the learning process at PSDS FIB UNDIP can meet quality standards.
